Welcome to Children's Ministries at First United Methodist Church! There are many ways for your child to worship, serve and grow as disciples! We cherish the relationships with you and your family. Together, we are here to help strengthen and support you in your journey with God.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS will be June 3-6, 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon
for incoming 1st graders - 5th graders!

5TH GRADE VEHICLE WAIVER
If your child is an incoming 5th grader, please fill out the vehicle waiver. Our 5th graders leave FUMC to do mission work around Graham during VBS.

Ways you can volunteer!
SUNDAY SCHOOL - Preschool & Elementary Sunday School teachers have an option to teach in the summer or during the GISD school calendar months. Preschool teachers teach 4 Sundays each semester of the GISD calendar and in the summer teach 5 Sundays in the summer months. Elementary teachers have an opportunity to choose Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd & 3rd grade, 4th & 5th grade. In the summer the Elementary combine into one classroom.
BIBLE ZONE - Elementary Bible Zone meets directly after school on Wednesdays until 5:30 p.m. We are always in need of Greeters, Shepherds (Adults/Youth in charge of a group taking them from class to class), Snack preparation/Servers, Recreation leaders, Storyteller.
BIBLE ZONE DRIVERS pick up children from schools and drop them off at the church.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - VBS is always the 2nd week of June and we meet from 9 a.m. till 12 noon, Monday thru Thursday. We have several opportunities to serve. Options include: Shepherd, Storytelling, Snack, Music, Craft, Recreation and Assembly time. We all have VBS 6th grade mission team leaders that drive the children to different mission locations around town. Examples are: Meals on Wheels, Clothes Closet, FUMC Community Garden, Random Acts of Kindness.
TRUNK OR TREAT - Volunteers to help facilitate and plan for a community Trunk or Treat in the church parking lot.
CHILDREN'S CHURCH - Volunteers needed to help Children's Church leaders during the late worship service. This could be serving a snack, helping with crafts, cleaning up afterwards.
bible zone
Bible Zone is for children 3 years to 5th grade. The children meet on Wednesday afternoons
during the school year. Preschool Bible Zone is from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Elementary Bible Zone is from 3:30 - 5:20 p.m. We offer transportation from public schools to Bible Zone. At the church we provide a snack, along with singing, arts and crafts, recreation and storytelling. Special events
and field trips are also
planned during the year.

WORSHIP SERVICES
All children are welcome to our worship services. We have activity bags, weighted blankets and cuddly toys located in the foyer going into the Sanctuary. The activity bags have activities for all preschool and elementary age children. After worship, please put the activity bag, weighted blankets and cuddly toys back in its place. You are welcome to take home any of the activities pages we provide in the bags.
NURSERY
We have nursery care for infants and toddlers available to you during Sunday mornings. The nursery and toddler rooms are located in the purple and orange rooms in the preschool building. We have pagers for parents of nursery age children, as well as a nursing room for moms and their babies to have some privacy while nursing.
CHILDREN'S CHURCH
Children’s Church is provided for children ages 3-1 st grade during the 10:50 a.m. service. Adults escort the children from the Sanctuary after the children’s message in worship to the red and blue rooms of the preschool building. Children’s Church is a great transitional service for your little ones as they are growing and learning to stay in the full worship services. They follow the same message that we have in the Sanctuary, adapted for their ages.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Classes are available for children beginning at the age of 2. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m.
and concludes at 10:35 a.m. The focus for all our classes is age-appropriate spiritual learning that engages the children in their growing relationship with God. These are the location of the classes held in the preschool building:
Kindergartners up to 5th grade meet upstairs in the education building. There is a rotating schedule that is located by the water fountain as you go up the stairs to the elementary wing.
