Welcome to Children's Ministries at First United Methodist Church! There are many ways for your child to worship, serve and grow as disciples! We cherish the relationships with you and your family. Together, we are here to help strengthen and support you in your journey with God.
During this unprecedented time of social distancing, we are so thankful for social media and the technology that we have that allows us to stay connected! Deep Blue is a Sunday School curriculum that we use at FUMC Graham. It's called Deep Blue, with the idea of "diving deep into the word of God." Here is a link to their website that allows you to watch some Bible Story videos with your children, that are timely during the rest of this Lenten season. There is also a free game app called Greatest Journey, for kids age 4-5th grade. Players captain the Interstellar Starship Emmanuel back in time where they are able to witness and participate in 12 major Biblical events, from creation to Jesus' resurrection! And keep working on learning the books of the Bible!! Much love, laughter
& many blessings, Beth & Dru

All children are welcome to our worship services. We have activity bags, weighted blankets and cuddly toys located in the foyer going into the Sanctuary. The activity bags have activities for all preschool and elementary age children. After worship, please put the activity bag, weighted blankets and cuddly toys back in its place. You are welcome to take home any of the activities pages we provide in the bags.
We have nursery care for infants and toddlers available to you during Sunday mornings. The nursery and toddler rooms are located in the purple and orange rooms in the preschool building. We have pagers for parents of nursery age children, as well as a nursing room for moms and their babies to have some privacy while nursing.
Children’s Church is provided for children ages 3-1 st grade during the 10:50 a.m. service. Adults escort the children from the Sanctuary after the children’s message in worship to the red and blue rooms of the preschool building. Children’s Church is a great transitional service for your little ones as they are growing and learning to stay in the full worship services. They follow the same message that we have in the Sanctuary, adapted for their ages.
Classes are available for children beginning at the age of 2. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m.
and concludes at 10:35 a.m. The focus for all our classes is age-appropriate spiritual learning that engages the children in their growing relationship with God. These are the location of the classes held in the preschool building:
- Nursery- purple room
- Toddlers and Two’s- orange room
- Pre-K class-yellow room
Kindergartners up to 5th grade meet upstairs in the education building. There is a rotating schedule that is located by the water fountain as you go up the stairs to the elementary wing.
The second week of June we have VBS from 9 - 12 noon Monday through Thursday. This year our VBS theme is Quest for the King’s Armor- Knights of North Castle. Children 4 years of age as of August 1, 2020, and children going into 6th grade are invited to join us! This year we will be learning about the Lord’s strength and power! Kids will explore Old and New Testament stories and what it means to put on the full armor of God. We will talk about the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Justice, Shoes of Peace, Shield of Faith and Helmut of Salvation. Our 6th graders participate in a daily mission project, such as preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels, working in the FUMC Community Garden, working at the Community Food Pantry and performing Random Acts of Kindness. Registration forms will be online starting the last week of April.
Bible Zone is for children 3 years to 5th grade. The children meet on Wednesday afternoons
during the school year. Preschool Bible Zone is from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Elementary Bible Zone is from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. We offer transportation from public schools to Bible Zone. At the church we provide a snack, along with singing, arts and crafts, recreation and storytelling. Special events
and field trips are also planned during the year.
Kids Care Club provides K thru 5th grade children with hands on opportunities to share God's love with others. Some of these opportunities are Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, our Food Pantry Scavenger Hunt (benefiting the Community Food Pantry) and helping with the Friendship Meal. If you are interested in your child participating in KCC, or you would like to volunteer, contact Dru Isom at firstname.lastname@example.org
