Adult Discipleship is for Life!

At FUMC we believe that growing your faith is a life-long journey.  That is why we have a strong education program for adults.  You are invited to explore the rich diversity of adult learning opportunities from Sunday School to long and short-term studies.  Each group and class is unique and offers you a different format for study and fellowship.

Some of the Adult Studies Include:

Adult Sunday School Classes

Circuit Riders - This group takes their name from the early Methodist preachers on horseback.  The class believes that study and fellowship make strong friendships and they enjoy lessons on a variety of subjects as well as frequent class parties.  The class supports a number of short-term projects throughout the year.

Explorers - The Explorers are an adult class who enjoy exploring and growing in their faith together through lively discussion on a variety of subjects.  In the midst of raising their families, most have preschool or elementary age children, they meet for study and fellowship.

Flame and Cross - This class takes their name from the symbol for the United Methodist Church and they focus on Scripture in a format that leads to discussion.  Several members of the class take turns sharing the responsibility of teaching and the class is composed of adults in their middle years.

High Questors - This senior adult class is composed of both singles and couples.  Taught by a rotating group of five teachers, they use a variety of resources with a focus on lecture and discussion.  The High Questors enjoy fellowship as a class.

Homebuilders - The Homebuilders is a younger senior adult class with a strong emphasis on serious Bible study in a lecture format.

Kum Duble - The Kum Duble class began as a young couples class that invited members to "come double."  As senior adults, the class is composed of both singles and couples.  In their study they are dedicated and eager to stay in the Wesleyan tradition.

New Beginnings - This class is a mid-aged class centered on fellowship.  For study they utilize the Adult Bible Studies as well as special studies.  The class members are family oriented and believe in close family ties.

Open Bible - Open Bible is dedicated to studying the Bible together.  Composed of all ages and stages of life, this intergenerational class believes that diversity enhances their time together.

Open Door - This class feels that they are truly an open door to all and is composed of couples and singles in their mid-adult years.  It is usually taught by class members using a variety of study materials from United Methodist publishing to contemporary Christian books and DVD's.

Seekers - This young adult class is composed of adults seeking God's truth through an in-depth study of the Bible.  With a teacher led discussion format, their studies focus on growing their knowledge of the Bible and most importantly growing in their personal faith.
