The Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church is a vibrant and an exciting part of our church family.  We believe that God will use our gifts for music to lead in praise and worship, to touch hearts and lives with joy and enthusiasm, and to offer our love for God in worship.  We offer a variety of music through different groups, choirs, and instrumentalists that will interest people of all ages.  Everyone is welcome to take part in the music ministries.

Please check the worship guide or contact the Director of Music Ministries for rehearsal times and schedules for all choirs and groups.  There is a place for you!

Children's Choirs

Music is a regular part of our children's Sunday School curriculum.  Our chilodren's choirs have a special leadership role in worship on Children's sabbath, the Christmas Cantata, Palm Sunday, and other special days.

Music is also a special part of our Bible Zone program.  The children learn music and perform a musical in December.

Worship is at the heart of discipleship and the Christian life.  Worship celebrates our relationship with God and nurtures our growth as followers of Jesus Christ.  When we gather in worship we are participating in the wondrous story of God's love.  The way we encounter God in worship is part of our personal faith journey and that is why at First United Methodist Church of Graham there are different styles of worship services throughout the year.  We seek to help you experience and encounter God in worship so that you may continue your growth as a disciples.

Sunday Morning

Our 8:45 a.m. worship service is a traditional service held in the sanctuary.  This service is generally 45 minutes in length and uses traditional hymns and music played on the organ and piano.

Our 10:45 a.m. worship service is a blended service held in the sanctuary.  This service is generally one hour in length and the music and style is a blend of traditional, contemporary, gospel, and classical.  You will find that some weeks the music will focus on a specific genre and other weeks are a blend of styles.  This service is generally an hour in length.

Sunday Evening

Our Chapel Service is held at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel.  This service has a devotion and prayer format.  The music is sung from either the United Methodist Hymnal or the Cokesbury hymnal and the service will last around 45 minutes.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at both morning services and held at other special times throughout the year.  We believe in open communion which means that you do not have to be a member of this congregation to participate in the Sacrament.  All who profess their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior are welcome at his table.  We do provide a gluten free wafer instead of bread to those who need this alternative.  Please let your communion server know that you need a gluten free wafer when you are being served.

Coming for the First Time

When you come to a new place it can make you a little anxious and we hope this information will let you know what to expect.  If you have not been to the church before you can enter the sanctuary from either Third Street or Second Street.  As you make your way into our main building you will find our Welcome Center area in the atrium.  In the atrium (the larger gathering space outside the sanctuary) you will find coffee and lemonade each week, some delicious snacks from time to time, and a chance to visit with your neighbors.

There is always someone at the Welcome Center area to help you find your way around the buildings.  The host or hostess at the Welcome Center will give you a packet of information about the church and we have a special gift for our first-time guests.  You will also find Greeters at the doors who will be happy to guide you the Welcome Center or to any other location in the church.

If you have children one of our volunteers will take to you to one of our age-appropriate nurseries.  Our nurseries are located in the Preschool Building (the building by the playground).

If you would like your child to worship with you in the sanctuary please know that children are welcome at any of our worship services.  You will find Activity Packets for children just outside the entrance to the sanctuary.  These packets are new each week and have activity sheets that relate to the worship service.  You can pick one up your way into the sanctuary and then simply return it at the end of the service.

Our worship services focus on God and our relationship and response to God so attire is up to you.  You will find that attire on Sunday morning ranges from blue jeans to suits, and slacks to dresses.

You are welcome to explore our campus and will find a map to guide you in your Welcome Packet and there are maps on the walls by each entrance to the building.  If you have questions at any time please visit our Welcome Center, or ask a Greeter or Usher.

We are glad to have you worship at First United Methodist Church of Graham!  Please contact the church office durng the week if you need additional information (940-549-0970 or
